The Lords of Altamont bring a raw rock and roll fury born of the ultimate end of the “peace and love” era. Heralded as the “Woodstock of the West”, the infamous Altamont free concert of December 6, 1969 was instead marked by heavy drugs, motorcycle chains and brass knuckles, and later punctuated by shoving and brawling. While hippies were grooving and relaxing in the Bay Area, the ancestors of The Lords of Altamont were playing energetic rhythms in the beer-soaked halls of Detroit and the seedy clubs of the Los Angeles Sunset Strip.
